Network Information Systems
Associate of Applied Science

Because networks are configured in many different ways, network systems and data communications analysts are needed to design, test, and evaluate systems such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), intranets, and other data communications systems. Network systems and data communications specialists perform network modeling, analysis, and planning. They may also research related products and make necessary hardware and software recommendations. Because of increases in technology, employment is expected to increase much faster than average.* TESST College can provide the education and technical training you need to enter this growing field.

Career Preparation

The Associate of Applied Science in Network Information Systems program can give you a broad base of skills to pursue careers in the network operations and computer technical support fields, with an emphasis on the Microsoft® systems. In addition, general education courses focus on skills in rhetoric and social studies that can help to make you a more attractive job candidate. You can learn about the elements of an information system including hardware, operating systems, software, data, users, procedures, and personnel.

Another benefit of this program is to help you prepare for the Microsoft® Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification exams.† The program meets the skills standards for a network specialist as developed by the Northwest Center for Emerging Technologies and National Science Foundation.

Career Opportunities

When you graduate with your Associate of Applied Science in Network Information Systems, you can seek an entry-level position in the fields of:

  • Network administration
  • Network engineering
  • Computer technology
  • Technical support
  • User support

† However, the School cannot guarantee a student's eligibility either to take this exam or become certified. A student's eligibility may depend on his or her work experience, completion of high school (or its equivalent), not having a criminal record, meeting other licensure or certification requirements, or the program or School itself having appropriate accreditation or licensure. Externship sites may themselves require a criminal background check or medical examination.
